Abstract

Background. The rapid development of such areas as virtual and augmented reality necessitates the study of these industries and the identification of trends in their development. Therefore, the purpose of the study is to analyze this market, the main trends of the virtual reality industry, as well as to identify the trend of development, and to forecast several periods of anticipation.
Materials and methods. The research tasks were implemented by analyzing the materials of analytical and consulting companies working in this field, relevant data and indicators characterizing this market. In addition, the authors used statistical methods for analyzing indicators, as well as methods for constructing, describing, and forecasting trends.
Results. As a result of the research the authors have analyzed the market capacity and competitors, determined points of growth by examining the needs of consumers, and outlined development prospects and directions for enterprises in this industry.
Conclusions. The conducted research confirmed the strategic appeal of the virtual and augmented reality market in Russia. However, to ensure long-term successful operation many factors need to be taken into account, including a high level of competition, a constant need for innovation and a need to develop competitive software.
